DEWC Services has been formally acknowledged as a Veteran Friendly Employer by the Australian Government’s Department of Veteran Affairs, recognising the company’s strong commitment to integrating and empowering veterans in the workplace.

As an active employer of veterans and reservists, DEWC Services is dedicated to recruiting and providing meaningful employment opportunities for Australia’s veterans, supporting them to transition into civilian careers that allow them to continue to serve the country.

This recent achievement is a testament to DEWC Services’ proactive approach to creating a work environment that both values and utilises the unique skills and experiences of veterans.

DEWC Services General Manager - People and Culture, Deb Penaluna said, providing their veteran employees with purposeful work that fuels their passion and intrinsic sense of duty is at the core of the company’s holistic approach to supporting veterans.

“At DEWC Services, we are proud of our veterans and their service to the nation. We enable them to continue serving Defence in a civilian capacity by providing opportunities to contribute to critical Defence projects in an environment they are familiar with,” she said.

“Veterans are a core part of our company, currently representing about 30 per cent of our workforce. We strongly believe in preserving and capturing their deep subject matter knowledge, discipline and work ethic.

“We do this by creating a culture of knowledge sharing that encourages veterans to impart their technical know-how and experience with graduates and employees who may not necessarily have previous experience or knowledge of Defence and its processes.

“It gives our veteran employees a deep sense of fulfilment knowing they are helping grow the next generation of highly skilled C4ISREW specialists for Defence.”

The company’s strong veteran employee network is supported by a range of policies, programs and initiatives designed to engage veterans, provide professional development and career support. It also recently introduced the Defence Reserves Policy to provide veteran reservists with paid leave and flexible working arrangements to fulfill their Reservist duties.

The Department of Veteran Affairs’ Veteran Employment Program is a national initiative aimed at encouraging businesses to prioritise the employment of veterans. By signing the Veteran Employment Commitment and receiving Veteran Friendly status, DEWC Services publicly demonstrates its support and leadership in veteran employment.
