DEWC Services and UNSW join forces to drive defence research

South Australian-based company DEWC Services, a leading provider of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (C4ISREW) solutions to Defence, has teamed up with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Canberra to drive innovative research that will bolster Australia’s sovereign defence capabilities.
The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding will enable DEWC Services to draw on the expertise of world-leading researchers at UNSW Canberra’s Capability Systems Centre to tackle complex defence-focused research problems across areas in Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (ISREW).
The MoU signing follows the announcement of DEWC Services’ expansion into Canberra and will strengthen the company’s partnership with UNSW Canberra, which has a strong track record of delivering world-class research across defence, cyber security, Digital Engineering and artificial intelligence.
DEWC Services CEO Allan Dundas said the powerful research partnership will support priority areas recently identified in the Australian Government’s Defence Strategic Review and help DEWC Services deliver timely, relevant and future-focused solutions to Defence challenges.
“We are delighted to partner with UNSW Canberra to take advantage of their defence research expertise and forge a path to operationalise future discoveries to support Defence capability,” Dundas said.

DEWC Services principal EW consultant and Canberra research lead, Dr Aaron Matthews, said the research collaboration will enable the organisations to undertake discovery exercises focused on defence industry needs and demands, facilitate the exchanging of ideas and information, and support the integration of innovative research into Defence projects.
“This research collaboration will give our company deeper insight into future technologies which will form the core of new defence capability, as we work alongside researchers who have the ability to look deeply into the technologies and capabilities of the future,” Dr Matthews said.
UNSW Canberra Associate Professor Dr Sondoss EI Sawah said the partnership represents a strong commitment towards working collaboratively and exploring opportunities aimed at accelerating Australia’s Defence capabilities.
